NOVEMBER 2009: GODDESS POSE (UTKATA KONASANA)
Instructions:
- From five pointed star, bend the elbows at shoulder height and turn the palms facing forward. Turn the feet out 45 degrees facing the corners of the room.
- Bend the knees toward 90 degrees, over the ankles as you exhale.
- Press the hips forward, the knees back, and the tail down.
- Relax the shoulders down and lift the chest up.
- Keep the arms active, as if they were holding a big ball over your head. Gaze straight ahead with the chin parallel to the floor.
- To release: inhale and straighten the legs, reaching the fingertips to the ceiling, then exhale the arms to the sides.

- Opens the hips and chest
- Strengthens and tones the lower body.
- Stimulates the uro-genital, respiratory and cardiovascular systems.
